How It Works

Habitat Homes combine immediate conservation action with long-term stewardship.

Project Assessment

Our team will assess the project's scope, eligibility, funding requirements, and expected environmental outcomes.

Portfolio Inclusion

Suitable projects are included within the Catchment project portfolio and presented to supporters and investors seeking positive environmental outcomes.

Project Delivery

Once funded, project partners deliver agreed activities in accordance with an approved project plan and receive funding through Catchment.

Long-Term Stewardship

A portion of project funding may be allocated to immediate on-ground works, with the remaining funding released over a 25-year stewardship period to support ongoing maintenance and long-term biodiversity outcomes. Funding arrangements are tailored to each project.

Accountability and Transparency

Catchment is committed to ensuring that every project delivers genuine and measurable environmental benefits.

Independent Assessment

Habitat Homes are assessed by independent ecological consultants and recorded on an independently verified register.

Public Visibility

All Habitat Homes are geotagged and publicly viewable through our online mapping platform, providing transparency for supporters and stakeholders.

Long-Term Monitoring

Monitoring benchmarks are reassessed every five years to evaluate ecological outcomes and management practices. Monitoring results are made publicly available through reports and our website.

Ongoing Compliance

Where agreed management actions are not maintained, funding allocated to future stewardship payments may be redirected to alternative projects that continue to deliver environmental outcomes.
